Dunstone Remembers

To commemorate Remembrance Day 2018, we have been learning about the importance of Poppy Day through art, assemblies and visits to military bases.  In art last week, all the children created poppy scene pictures to add to the whole school poppy display.  Some of our HMS Heroes children were fortunate enough to take part in a visit to 165 Port and Maritime Squadron at Derriford where they took part in first aid drills, inspected kit and did observation tests.

Isla in Sycamore class has won the final of this year’s ‘Poppy Bake Off’. She baked her cake for the panel at The Lord Mayor’s residence in Elliott Terrace.  Well done!

On Friday Oak class led our school in a special remembrance class assembly, sharing their learning and marking the occasion with their parents. They shared some of their amazing war poems with us too.

The poppies we created last year have been recycled and used for a display in Plympton Library to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War I.
