Dunstone Primary School

Military Kids Club

Dunstone Primary School is proud to be part of a unique pupil voice group formed in the City of Plymouth for the support of Service children and young people called Military Kids Club (Heroes). One of our Teaching Assistants, Mrs Dorman, runs a 'Forces Friends' club for service children on a Wednesday lunchtime where they can get together to support each other and carry out fun activities together.

The group works, actively, in harmony, to ensure that every member has a voice and is able to use it for the benefit of all.   Members of Heroes are Plymouth's ambassadors and young advocates for Service families. Most importantly, they are friends for each other, especially in times of need.

Our Wellbeing Champion, Mrs Gibson,  also takes small group of service children for ‘sharing a story’ time in the afternoons. This is an opportunity for the children to enjoy a nurture session but also have a discussion around authors and their books and vote on latest publications.
